About me

I am Niya Sinckler, a Londoner living in New York. My favourite places to visit include Barbados, Brasil, Cuba, England and Japan. With a mother tongue of English, I also speak Portuguese, Spanish, French and Japanese. According to my parents the first time I went on a plane, I was two months old and we were heading from London to Barbados. The second time, I was one year old when we headed off to São Paulo. As we all know, it’s important to see family when you first come into the world. I started early; it must be my Sagittarius streak. At the age of five, I realised that I really wanted to travel. As my story has it, I used to hide in my parents’ suitcases as soon as I could crawl with the hope that they would bring me along on their travels. Both of my parents worked in international organisations and travelled frequently. In addition to this, my formative education at an international school further piqued my curiousity for travel and fascination with other cultures. Travelling is my favourite form of education. When I was eight years old, I started to research the 195 countries recgonised globally and made my own bucket list of the 100 countries I would like to visit. I took my first solo trip as a Japanese exchange student for language and cultural immersion at the age of 14. My website is centered around my travel experiences and travel industry-related topics. I enjoy art galleries, museums, attending F1 Grand Prix races and writing about them here, playing football, tennis and swimming as well as going to music concerts and festivals. My higher education includes a BA Honours Journalism from Kingston University London and an MA Business Management from the University of Westminster. Positions in journalism, marketing, media, public relations and events have broadened my knowledge of communication. I am a journalist, photographer and wanderlust.
