“Do It My Way!”: Dice Vicky

This is a highlight of my travelling through motorsport series featuring women excelling in the W Series. This article was transferred from my Women Race website:

Born in Milan, Vittoria "Vicky" Piria is a female racing driver. Right now, she’s ready for the ease of the lockdown. Italy is finally opening gyms and restaurants. It’s good news as we’re all hoping to get rid of this pandemic soon.

For career highlights, Vicky raced for two years in Formula Abarth with Tomcat Racing, Italian and European championships in 2010. Then Vicky competed in 16 GP3 races in 2012. Also, Piria took part in the Euro Formula 3, finished 4th in Jerez and at Le Castellet. Vicky became the first female driver to compete in GP3 while racing with the Trident team. In 2014, Piria participated in the Pro Mazda Championship under JDC MotorSports. By 2018, Vicky was racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup Italy. During 2019, Piria finished 9th in the W Series. In 2020, Vicky enjoyed the Formula Renault Eurocup.

The most enjoyable part for Vicky about being a racing diver is to ‘the work to get the perfect lap.’ Her favourite tracks are Spa and Mugello. Vicky said, “They both have amazing surroundings and are long tracks where you need to carry a lot of speed in the corners.”

This year, Vicky is looking forward to racing with F1 as it will be mega. Piria thinks that in the last 5 years, there has been absolutely positive progress for women in motorsport. From media attention to opportunities and especially younger girls starting karting. It’s great to see improvements over time.

While preparing for the W Series, Vicky has been doing a lot of training. Piria said, “I do kickboxing. I find that it is great and also planning sim prep before every event.”

When asked about role models, Vicky recognises that everybody has qualities and can be a role model for us in some aspects. A motto that she lives by is, ‘Do It My Way.” She advises those aspiring to work in motorsport, “to have fun, if you enjoy it you will perform better.” Piria plans to stay in racing and be a role model for future generations.

Excited to see what Vicky does during her upcoming seasons. Buona fortuna!
