18. Inspring Iceland

Located in the southwest area of the country, Reykjavík is the capital and most sovereign state in Iceland. The coastline is composed of coves, peninsulas and straits. Most of the country is shaped based on earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. The climate is fairly cloudy with a reduced amount of daily sunlight.

I enjoyed strolling through the small streets of the 10 districts. Many main sights are within walking distance for tourists including the Blue Lagoon and Hallgrímskirkja Lutheran parish church.

Café Loki is recommended to try authentic Icelandic food such as localfruit juice, mashed fish, smoked trout, eggs, herring and unique rye bread icecream. Then Iceland happens to be home to the largest population of the puffin bird. There was a photography exhibition featuring four different species by Jóhanna Ólafsdóttir.

The coolest bit was an interestingly placed Punk Museum, mountain views and the infamous Iceland hotdog. Also, Skuli Craft Bar has 14 local beers which you may sample to get an idea of Icelandic flavour. I think the Skuggi Hotel is a wonderful place to stay and there are creative quotes complimented by a modern design. Lastly, Iceland Air is my go to airlines for arriving and departing at Keflavík International Airport.
