41. Boosting Bonaire
Bonaire is quite a destination with over 22 beaches when you don’t have to worry about all the other restrictions by the CDC.
The capital, Kralendijk has a flat terrain which makes it easy to navigate the city. With a tropical marine climate, it’s easy to feel relaxed. It’s recommended to learn key phrases in Dutch as its the official language. Stroll the streets and admire the architecture of the island.
Sightseeing spots include the Bonaire Botanical Garden, the highest peak Brandaris, cave formations, a saltwater lagoon called Gotomeer, the Pekelmeer Flamingo Sanctuary, a lookout point named Seru Largu and the historical Willemstoren Lighthouse.
Bonaire has loads of restaurants featuring a variety of cuisine. The local food is mostly locally caught fish, fried foods, soups and stews. A menu could have conch, cacti, lobster, iguana and wahoo. For excellent restaurants, I recommend At Sea, Blennies Restaurant, Bistro Sorobon, Brass Boer and Ingridients.
Most people visit for the numerous water sports. The best destinations are Eden Beach, Pink Beach and Te Amo Beach. Scuba diving is number one reason with designated div shore spots. Catamaran chillin is one way to go. Snorkeling is also excellent as you can experience the underwater world on another level. Additionally activities such as bird watching, fishing, kiteboarding, sailing, sea kayaking and windsurfing are major eco adventure attractions. Next month in July, there will be a quarterly clean up drive where many come together to take care of their underwater community on 24 July. Looking forward to that.
