Eventual Escape
As of today, Costa Rica is the first nation to welcome travelers where you no longer require a COVID-19 test.
The country is inviting international airlines to come as a way to boost the economy, while local businesses continue to maintain prevention protocols based on health and safety measures.
The Costa Rican News provided a statement from the Minister of Tourism, Gustavo J. Segura who said, “Europe is a point of origin for a prospect of tourists highly sought after by our country, with a high educational level, an appreciation for nature and culture, and long stays. For this reason, this opening of new flights from the Old Continent is of utmost importance for the tourism industry contributing to the gradual recovery of our sector. “
In Central America, autumn marks the start of high season. The timing couldn’t be better for several European airlines to add Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) to their destination list. The Tico Times listed all approved airlines. Within the airport, there are mandatory masks and social distancing rules.
At present, citizens of the following countries are permitted to enter including, Canada, United States (only 23 states), Mexico, Jamaica, Uruguay, United Kingdom, Europe (only 26 countries in the Schengen Area), Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand. It’s important to note that travelers must have insurance that covers up to $50k in medical costs. Sounds tempting! Still remember to review local government restrictions before booking and taking off on the adventure.
