Rhode Island Road Trip
Rhode Island has it all from art, beach, cuisine, history, outdoor activities, spas and views to remember.
My three favourite places to visit are Narragansett, Newport and Providence.
Narragansett
To centre yourself, there are loads of cycling paths where one can escape into nature. The iconic Towers are a historic part of the seaside resort town. Locals like the Narrangasett Bay along the New England East Coast.
An afternoon beverage can be found at the Narragansett Brewery that consists of a taproom, bar and patio covering 18,000 square feet. Surfers will be attracted to Narragansett Beach. If that fails, take a ferry to Block Island. It’s lighthouses galore.
Newport
Boats are set to sail the toughest contest yet. Arriving from Brasil, there is a nine day celebration open to the public at the Ocean Live Park. Lovely lunch destinations include Boat House, Midtown Oyster Bar and Scales. If you’re into lush and luxury, check out the Newport Mansions. It’s a time to embrace your architecture and decor obsessions. Many meticulous items to adore surround you with museum quality vibes. Think opulence.
For the more adventurous individuals, take a tour of the Tennis Hall of Fame is calling. Next say yes to a challenge at Newport National Golf Club. It was designed by the legendary architect, Arthur Hills. After taking all those swings and when ready for a snack, stroll to Easton’s Beach. To end the day, enjoy a spectacular spa session by Retreat at Castle Hill.
Providence
RISD Museum should be the first stop. There are over 100,000 cultural objects to admire from the 18th and 19th century. To get those steps in, Benefit Street is filled with history. Then Providence Riverwalk is beautiful. Also there’s the chance to take a gondola and capture the creative capital city scape. From there, venture through the art, book and craft shops for fun. Circe Restaurant has a cool atmosphere for drinks and dinner.
