Tasty Texas!

Big cities with small town vibes, everywhere felt warm and welcoming in this state.

Starting off in Austin, it was great to see how alive the streets are with character from the colour to scooters everywhere. My favourite restaurants were Rollin Smoke and Eureka. Fabolous flavour in the Southern smoked barbecue brisket and big beautiful burgers. Also, the vibrant nightlife scene with live music such as hearing Dave The Band and at Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar was loads of fun. Keep Austin weird.

My main attraction was the Formula 1 Circuit of the Americas, also known as COTA event. Entering the venue was simple enough with security, ticket scanning and a queue that actually moved. Next, there’s this massive F1 sign for visitors to take photos with. A huge map follows to let you know what’s available. Around the track itself, there are loads of vendors to offer something for everyone including cheese bites, vegetarian options, brisket burgers and of course an international selection of beer. Activation points such as checking out cars up close, driving in esports, purchasing F1 team gear, venturing up the observation tower and hanging out on the hill top spots. There was so much to explore and enjoy! My favourite part was that Mercedes won the race with a 1-2 finish by Valterri Bottas and celebrating Lewis Hamilton’s 6-time F1 World Champion victory. For the silver arrows team as always it was, the best or nothing!

Then my Mum and I drove from Austin to San Antonio to take in the rich colonial history with each step. The heritage can be seen through the streets of the city. The River Walk is beautiful with lots of cafes and restaurants. The Alamo is great to visit to learn how the state of Texas was formed. I would visit again!
