Airports and Airlines Are In Sync
Starting today, Heathrow Airport announced that it’s no longer required to wear masks through the facilities.
This comes as the country is set to scrap covid-19 protocols at the end of the week. When walking through airport terminals, rail stations and offices, a face covering is no longer mandated. Perhaps Gatwick, Stanstead and Luton may follow soon.
Additionally, Virgin Airlines and British Airways are dropping mask requirements. However this is being done by routes. For example, a passenger won’t have to wear a mask if travelling in England and Northern Ireland. Meanwhile, mask mandates are still in place in Scotland Wales. Case counts are decreasing daily which may escalate change in the other parts of the United Kingdom.
Also abroad, there are other destinations that are enforcing the mask mandates for inward and outward bound flights. One included is the United States where it’s in place until 18 April.
Airline Lobby Group Airlines UK, Tim Alderslade admitted, “Today’s announcement sends a clear message to the world -- the U.K. travel sector is back. With travellers returning to the U.K. no longer burdened by unnecessary forms and testing requirements, we can now look forward to the return to pre-Covid normality.”
