45. Anguillan Adventure
It’s that British Overseas Territory with one main flat island made of limestone and numerous islets spanning 35 square miles.
The capital is The Valley which is comprised of 14 districts with a population just over 1,000 people.
The most amazing moments are seeing the fisherman and sailors come in at Island Harbour. If interested in history, The Old Salt Factory & Pumphouse can impress. Then the Heritage Collection Museum displays a grand collection of documents from the beginning of time. Art attractions include Devonish Art Gallery & Uhuru Gallery and Uhuru Gallery which represent local artists and historical artifacts.
Natural beauty will surround you at the Hydroponic Farm and Organic Gardens or Endangered Species Garden. It’s a chance to learn about the country’s agriculture. For wildlife viewing, East End Pond is the place to be. Also, there’s horseback riding by the Seaside Stables.
For drinks and music, Sandy Ground has loads of bars, cafes, and restaurants to entertain all priced from cheap eats to moderate stops to fine dining. It’s important to try the national dish at least once which is pigeon peas and rice. There’s something for everyone.
Driving through the island, you’ll see farms featuring corns, peas, tomatoes, and other island crops. Up for a hike, the highest point on the island is Crocus Hill at 65 meters. Two notable caves are called The Big Springs and The Fountain.
The island has 33 long white sandy beaches for lounging in the sun and secluded coves including Little Bay for a bit of fun. Cool coral reefs at Shoal Bay act as a home for tropical marine species which entices many to go scuba diving and snorkeling.
